Engineering Manager

Engineering Manager – Mississippi A Tier I Automotive supplier of structural components, suspensions and chassis products, mechanical assemblies and vehicle modules is currently looking for an Engineering Manager. Summary: Provides leadership for the design and maintenance of production tools and/or machines, and for developing and implementing solutions to production problems relating to materials, processes and tooling. Responsible for effectively planning, directing and coordinating all activities of the Engineering department with a systems thinking discipline to meet the needs of the business unit and its colleagues. Supports an environment of clear, concise and complete communication across all functional areas of the business unit. From an engineering perspective, identify, plan and implement activities designed to reduce costs while improving the quality, safety and delivery methods of our processes. Duties and Responsibilities: *Coordinates engineering efforts to meet customer, business unit and enterprise guidelines and requirements. *Provides leadership in achieving all customer Quality System requirements. *May represent the business unit as the QS 9000 Management Representative. *Interfaces with manufacturing to maximize productivity *Supports overall plant operations by providing technical support, training and leadership *Directs processing and assembly methods and sequences for all internal production of goods. *Participates in the investigation of safety incidences and identification and implementation of prevention strategies for future reoccurrence. Utilizes STOP for effective colleague interactions. *Meet with colleagues when necessary to coach counsel or confront issues. Seeks resolution that reinforces our values and company standards, guidelines and policies. *Assists in the identification, development and implementation of training programs needed to provide necessary colleague skills and expertise. *Provide leadership in integrating existing methods with new innovations to economically solve production issues in a timely manner. Qualifications: * BS/BA Degree in engineering or related field * Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive engineering, previous leadership/management role preferred. * Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, systems, network * Strong working knowledge of engineering mechanics, mechanical systems. * Familiarity with weld processes: Resistance and MIG * Metal forming experience * Project management * Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment * Understand of mechanical and hydraulic presses * Ability to effectively use statistical and problem solving tools * Lean Manufacturing Experience * Ergonomics: working knowledge * Automation experience
